Season nearly open.

Well the southern rivers open in 9 days(Oct 1st)  and the highland rivers Nov 1st and to say I’m excited is a big understatement.

Early season fishing can be great with the Trout well rested from angling pressure, spring water conditions and the fish keen to feed.

With spring like conditions the river conditions can change from day to day, if it’s cold the rivers run clear and if it warms up the there can be a bit of snow melt(as you can see from this photo)around, but it’s all about keying into the required technique .

A lot of people think with the season opening  that there are  loads of fishermen out there, well it’s a bit like that the first weekend or so but by being smart and picking your water and doing some mid week adventures there is plenty of opportunities around.

My bookings are starting to come in now so I would suggest if your thinking about coming over book in to avoid being disappointed.

Some of my favorite trips to do with people are our multi day camp outs, it’s real kiwi style fishing staying in back country huts and tenting were need be.Often for these trips we may utilize a helicopter for either flying in and out or walking in and flying out.

For the most part though I just love taking people out on our rivers and getting them hooked up on fish and showing them this beautiful part of the world.

Customizing packages to suit individuals is a big part of what I do so if your thinking of coming over and want a bit of advice or need a tailor made trip, drop me a note and we can make it happen.

Thanks all and stay tuned for some early season updates.
